Scientific Calculator
Full scientific calculator with trig & log.
About this tool
The Scientific Calculator handles arithmetic, trigonometry, logarithms, exponents, and more in your browser. See a live answer while typing, switch between degrees and radians, and reuse answers from recent calculations.
How it works
- Type your expression using the keyboard or click the on-screen buttons.
- Use function keys for sin, cos, tan, log, ln, and square root.
- Use EXP to multiply by a power of ten (for example, 2 EXP 3 is 2000).
- Press = or Enter to evaluate the expression.
- Use Ans to reuse the last result, or open History to revisit a previous calculation.
Example use cases
- Physics problem: Calculate kinetic energy for a mass of 80 kg moving at 12 m/s: enter 0.5 * 80 * 12**2 to get 5760 joules.
- Statistics: Compute log base 10 of 1000: tap log, enter 1000, close the parenthesis, then press = to get 3.
Frequently asked questions
Does it follow standard order of operations (BODMAS/PEMDAS)?
Yes - the calculator correctly evaluates brackets first, then exponents, then multiplication/division, then addition/subtraction.
Do trig functions use degrees or radians?
Both. The default is DEG; tap RAD when you want to enter radians. For example, sin(90) in DEG mode equals 1.
