JSON Formatter
Format and validate JSON data instantly.
About this tool
The JSON Formatter parses, validates, and pretty-prints JSON data so you can read and debug it easily. It highlights syntax errors with their location, making it fast to spot missing commas, mismatched brackets, or invalid values.
How it works
- Paste your raw or minified JSON into the input box.
- Click Format/Validate - valid JSON is instantly formatted with proper indentation.
- If there is an error, the tool highlights the problem and shows the line number.
- Copy the formatted JSON and use it in your code or documentation.
Example use cases
- API response debugging: Paste the raw API response from a curl command to instantly see the nested structure and identify the field you need.
- Config file formatting: Format a minified package.json or tsconfig.json to read it clearly before committing to version control.
Frequently asked questions
Does the formatter support JSON5 or JSONC (JSON with comments)?
No - the formatter validates standard JSON (IETF RFC 8259). Comments and trailing commas are not valid JSON and will be flagged as errors.
Is my JSON data stored or logged?
No - all processing is done locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server.
