Percentage Calculator
Calculate percentages easily.
About this tool
The Percentage Calculator handles three common percentage problems in one place: find what percentage one number is of another, calculate a percentage of a number, and compute percentage increase or decrease between two values.
How it works
- Select the type of percentage calculation you need.
- Enter the required numbers for that mode.
- The result appears instantly below the inputs.
- Switch between modes using the tabs to solve different percentage problems without clearing your work.
Example use cases
- Exam score: A student scored 43 out of 60. Use 'What percent is 43 of 60?' to find 71.67%.
- Price increase: A product rose from $80 to $95. Use the percentage change mode to find a 18.75% increase.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between percentage and percentage points?
A percentage point is the arithmetic difference between two percentages (e.g., moving from 10% to 15% is a 5 percentage-point increase). A percentage change of the same move is 50% (5/10 × 100).
Can I calculate reverse percentages (finding the original price before tax)?
Yes - use the 'percentage of' mode. For example, if $115 is 115% of the pre-tax price, divide 115 by 1.15 to get $100.
